The small salon of 18m² can accommodate eight persons standing or six sitting in a period setting, with genuine 18th century parquet, wood panels, mirrors, chimney, tapestry, carpet and furniture.
It has a marked Japanese touch with erotic prints, kimono buttons and ointment boxes of the Edo period, as well as a Meiji-period lacquered cupboard with overlaid mother-of-pearl and ivory, a spectacular bronze of an elephant attacked by tigers and a monk head sculpture. Its showcases contain a collection of crockery made in La Rochelle in the 18th century, brass utensils used for the Indian betel chewing practice, a flamboyant Chinese sculpture in soap stone, a mandarin scepter, Indian ivories, Indian silver musicians, etc…
Directly accessible by the grand staircase, it is the perfect antechamber of the large hall, though it can also be hired on its own.
It normally houses part of the tea room.
